    H.E. Humaid Ben Salem

    H.E. Humaid Mohamed Ben Salem was appointed as Secretary General of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) in 2013 to foster cooperation and coordination between the different emirates of the UAE and prepare ground for trade and investment that contribute to the national economy at large.

    H.E. Ben Salem is also a former member of the UAE National Assembly (Parliament) where he played his significant role from 2012 to 2016.

    Prior to his tenure at the UAE National Assembly, H.E. was Director General of Umm Al Quwain Chamber of Commerce & Industry for 20 years and his charismatic personality has been facilitating the local chambers and the private sector of the UAE to achieve their goals.

    He has been at the Board of Director of International Chamber of Commerce – UAE since 2009 and was elected Chairman in 2015 to represent, support and protect the interest of the business community in the UAE.

    In addition to the above, he has been instrumental in establishing several joint business councils and has always been active and regularly contributes to the projects pertaining to the private sector.

    He holds a BA degree in Administration and Marketing from Davis & Elkins College, United States of America.


    Hassan Al Hashemi

    Hassan Al Hashemi joined Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry in 2006 and is currently the Vice President of International Relations. As the principal liaison between governmental authorities and the private sector, Mr. Al Hashemi's department represents Dubai Chamber on the international arena and in turn is one of the organization's most active departments.

    The Department's main duties include negotiating cooperative agreements with foreign partners, organizing major events as well as high level business networking programs, representing the Chamber at local and international events, and organizing inbound and outbound delegations and trade missions.

    Since 2012, Mr Al Hashemi has led the implementation of Dubai Chamber's ProDubai initiative, which involves setting up a number of International Representative Offices in targeted locations around the world. He is also responsible for the promotion of Dubai Association Center, a first in the region that aims at attracting international business and professional bodies to Dubai.

    Mr. Al Hashemi holds a BA degree in Management and Marketing from the University of Dubai and is currently pursuing his Masters in Project Management at the British University in Dubai. He is also a graduate of the "Mohammed Bin Rashid Program for Leadership Development", a selective and highly regarded program initiated by the Executive Office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

    Mr. Al Hashemi is Secretary General and Board Member of ICC-UAE along with other local and international business organizations. He is married and has three daughters.


    Vince Cook

    Vince joined National Bank of Fujairah in 2009 as the bank's Chief Executive Officer. Since then, he has led its transformational growth as one of the fastest growing banks in the UAE, with a specialised focus in trade finance, treasury and corporate banking. Under his leadership, NBF ranked 4th in the GCC and 1st in the UAE in Mediaquest's Top CEO Awards in 2017.

    He has spent the majority of his 35+ years in banking, in the Middle East. This included senior positions in Barclays Bank Plc's Corporate Banking and Middle East Group divisions and a stint as Managing Director, Gulf, of Barclays Capital.

    Prior to his current appointment, he had general management positions in two other regional banks. Vince has a Doctorate of Business Administration from the University of Liverpool and MBA from Henley Management College, UK.

    Atif Raza, Vice Chairperson of ICC UAE Steering Committee and a qualified Chartered Management Accountant with more than 21 years of experience in Corporate, Islamic Banking and Trade Finance. He is a member of ICC Technical Task Force mandated for Digitisation of ICC Rules. He is associated with Commercial Bank of Dubai for last 12 years and holds a senior position as Head of Trade Sales, Institutional & Transaction Banking Group, leading a team of specialist Trade Sales Managers.

    Ashish joined National Bank of Fujairah in June 2015 as the Head of Corporate Products where he was responsible for leading the development and profitability of products for the Corporate and Institutional Banking clients.

    In his current role, Ashish is tasked with developing open platforms towards the digital transformation initiatives of the bank. He is specifically passionate about trade digitization, networks and Investment platforms.

    He is a seasoned banker with an experience spanning 17 years in the industry across India and the UAE. Prior to joining NBF, Ashish held senior positions in Standard Chartered and Citi serving corporate clients across diverse areas from transaction banking, supply chain financing and credit structuring.

    Edward is the Group Head of Trade Finance Operations in Ecobank with oversight responsibility on all trade products in 33 countries with over 2000 branches in Africa. The group also has a license operation in Paris with representative offices in London, Beijing, Dubai, Johannesburg and Luanda.

    Edward role has given him rich experiences across different regions and continents especially in Africa with working experience in Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Senegal, South Africa and Paris.

    Prior to this role, he worked with Standard Chartered Bank where he was responsible for the Trade Operations desk for West Africa. He also held various managerial positions in IT, Treasury Operations and Operational Risk Mgt.

    A graduate in I.T. from the University of Science and Technology and an MBA from the Paris Graduate School of Management - PGSM.

    Ian Gaitta

    Ian is a partner at Anjarwalla Collins & Haidermota and heads the firm's Africa desk. He is also a partner at Anjarwalla & Khanna Advocates in Nairobi, Kenya. He is based in Dubai. Ian is a corporate/commercial lawyer with a common law background and he has had significant transactional experience in the UAE and in sub-Saharan Africa countries. Ian's areas of practice include mergers & acquisitions, private equity, joint venture structuring, general corporate/commercial contracts and banking and finance. Ian also regularly advises on hospitality transactions in the UAE and in sub-Saharan Africa.     Ibtissem Lassoued is a Partner in the Regional Financial Crime Practice in Dubai.

    She graduated from the Sorbonne University (Paris) and joined Al Tamimi & Company in 2007 from the legal department of the French Group Vivendi, where she conducted primarily US litigation (e.g.securities class actions, Securities and Exchange Commission ('SEC') and Department Of Justice('DOJ') investigations).

    Ibtissem has extensive experience advising a variety of clientele on a spectrum of white collar crime matters which have spanned the globe. Her expertise on these matters includes complex corporate fraud, tracing, freezing and recovery of assets, anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing, extradition (acting both for States submitting extradition requests and individuals who are subject of a request) and mutual judicial cooperation, including issues relating to foreign judgments and Interpol notices. In order to advise fully, Ibtissem offers clients a full and practical knowledge of the remit of inter-governmental organizations, in particular in relation to the FATF and MENAFATF, and the effect of the same on anti-corruption, confiscation of the proceeds of crime, de-risking and the reporting of suspicious transactions.

    Furthermore, she frequently advises clients on international economic sanctions, counter-terrorist financing (particularly concerning charitable fundraising regulations), embezzlement, fraud and corruption, including advising multinational companies, global banks and international firms. Ibtissem is also experienced in assisting with multijurisdictional investigations where the applicability of foreign regulations needs to be considered (e.g. the anti-corruption laws such as the US FCPA and the UK Bribery Act).

Prior to working for HSBC, Louis worked at ABN Amro/RBS for 12 years as the EMEA Trade Finance Sales Head.     Mabutho is a Senior Manager providing VAT services with KPMG in the UAE. He has over ten (10) years experience on the South African and international clients on VAT compliance, advisory, due diligence and dispute resolutions.

    Relevant experience

    Mabutho commenced his tax career with KPMG South Africa in 2008 where he was involved in providing compliance and advisory support services to both local and international clients spanning across various industries, including the financial services sector.

    Mabutho further worked in the industry for a multinational, General Electric, in which he work as a Sub Sahara African VAT Manager. In this role, he was responsible for VAT compliance and advisory support in the Sub Sahara Africa region, which included amongst others, Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa, Botswana, Angola.

    During his tenure in the Sub Sahara Africa, Mabutho represented General Electric in resolving disputes with various Revenue Authorities in the region. Mabutho re-joined KPMG South Africa in 2013, where amongst others he was involved in the implementation of the shared services centre of a multi national entity in the telecommunications sector. In 2014, he delivered a presentation entitled Impact of VAT on financial services at the African Tax Administration Forum conference held in Abuja, Nigeria.

    Mabutho joined KPMG Lower Gulf in September 2017 and he has been involved in VAT implementation assignments in a range of industries. Mabutho has worked with clients from sectors such as financial services, telecommunications, banking insurance, energy and public sector (mainly parastatals and higher education institutions).

    Osama Elshiekh

    The Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment & Export Credit

    Osama Elshiekh has been part of ICIEC's UAE Office for more than 5 years. He is currently Country Manager for UAE, co-heading the corporation's operations out of the UAE. He has had a pivotal role in supporting the corporation's growing support for trade and investments, with total facilitated business of USD 1.7 bn during 2018 from the UAE office alone. Osama's current responsibilities include managing existing Export Credit and Investment Insurance programs, generate new partnerships and opportunities for the corporation as well as spearheading ICIEC UAE's growth plans in the Middle East and North Africa. Key transactions under his portfolio include investment insurance policies for the FIT 2 Solar Project in Egypt; additionally he has played a major role in structuring trade transactions facilitating bank and exporter finance transactions in Sub-Saharan Africa.

In her current role, Rolla is responsible for executing Citigroup's Trade Sales strategy. This includes originating and structuring trade finance solutions to support Corporate and Public Sector clients to achieve their cross border risk mitigation and working capital needs.

    Prior to heading the MENA Trade Sales team, Rolla has led Citigroup's Supply Chain Finance business for MENA.

    Rohini KAMATH

In her current role, she has responsibility of providing advice and oversight for financial crime risk matters for commercial banking customers and wholesale banking product areas such as Global Trade & Receivables Finance (GTRF) and Global Liquidity & Cash Management (GLCM).

    Sinan Ozcan has over 18 years of experience working in key managerial positions across various industries, focused on several areas of banking & financial services i.e. trade & structured finance solutions, treasury products, business development, new ventures and credit & risk management.

    In 2017, he established Maersk Trade Finance business in DIFC and continues to serve as Senior Executive Officer for the UAE business.

    Previously, he was Regional Director at UK Export Finance (the British export credit agency), in charge of business development, originating trade & project finance transactions and covering Europe, MENA and Central Asia.

    Prior to UKEF, Sinan was Head of Trade Finance & Financial Services at CNH Industrial, one of the largest capital goods manufacturers globally, where he covered various responsibilities and regions, including Africa, Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.

    Before CNH, Sinan held the position as auditor at VakifBank and covered many areas of banking & financial services.

    Sinan holds an MBA degree from Philadelphia University and obtained Master's degree in Banking & Entrepreneurship from the joint program of Venice & Udine Universities in Italy.

    Sinan speaks English, Italian, Turkish, French and German.

    TP is a Chartered Accountant (Indian CA) with over 30 years of post-qualification experience having worked in India, Singapore and Dubai. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Commerce from the Madras University, Chennai, India. He is also an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, India where he underwent an 8 months course on "General Management Program" in 2012. He has attended a residential program of Harvard Business School on "Building a Global Enterprise" in April 2015. In August 2017 he has successfully completed a two month 'Online Course' on "Design Thinking" from MIT Sloan School of Management, MIT, Massachusetts, U.S.A. TP has been certified in September 2018 by StratX Simulations to conduct the "Blue Ocean Strategy Simulation".

    TP helps his clients with Strategic Planning Process, Business Process Mapping, Corporate Strategy, Strategic Alliances, Design Thinking and Business Excellence. With hands-on experience in various functional areas, he provides the Corporate Strategy best suited for the Organisation. He also helps with the implementation of the Strategy and guides the organisation with the Monthly Review system to achieve sustainable growth. TP believes that every organisation should set themselves up in the 'path of excellence' which is a continuous journey. TP has helped in the mapping of processes for manufacturing companies and has also worked on the process improvements in order to achieve and drive better efficiencies, leveraging IT facility. He has also been involved in documenting the processes and in creation of Manual of Procedures for companies. He wrote his first Manual of Operations for an Outdoor Advertising Company in 1996. Since then, he has been working on Business Process Management in different industries with specific focus on manufacturing companies.

    TP is a Senior Assessor for the Dubai Quality Awards and Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award both are very prestigious Award Schemes in UAE. He is the Team Leader and Senior Assessor for the Taqdeer Award which was instituted by the Dubai Government in 2016. He is also a Senior Assessor for the ShjSEEN Awards administered by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce. He is a Senior Assessor for the UAE Innovation Award which has been instituted by Dubai Quality Group in 2017. TP is the Team Leader for the Emiratisation Award launched by the HR Ministry in 2017. He is one of the panel Judges for Stevie Awards in the USA since 2015.

    TP conducts case-study-based Workshops on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and has delivered number of public programs in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Bahrain and Muscat. He is also conducting workshops on Value Added Tax (VAT) which is being introduced in the GCC. He has actively participated in the preparation of the Background Material on VAT Law published by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). TP has developed a comprehensive Business Scenario Analysis for the Freight Forwarding & Logistics companies to unify the application of VAT. He is a faculty for the VAT Certificate Course being conducted by ICAI Dubai Chapter. TP has conducted a number of workshops for Corporates on the application of VAT in UAE and the process of conducting the Impact Study.

    TP is a visiting faculty at the Dubai Chapter of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and Etisalat Academy, Dubai. He is an Adjunct Faculty at Murdoch University, SP Jain School of Global Management and Amity University, where he is teaching Business Finance, Entrepreneurial Development; Strategic Innovation; Strategic Quality Management and Strategic Financial Management for MBA students. He is a member of the Academy of Management, USA.

    CANCELLATION POLICY

    20% of the registration fee will be refunded if notice of cancellation is received in writing before 13th November 2018. Cancellations after this date are not refundable.
