ICC (International Chamber of Commerce) is a Paris-based
international organisation which brings together private companies and
establishments in both developed and developing countries to promote
trade, investment and market economy. Founded in 1919, the overwhelming
aims of ICC have never changed – promoting trade, investment and market
economy. As the world business organisation, it is the sole representative that speaks for the private businesses from all sectors worldwide. Traditionally, ICC has acted on behalf of businesses in making representations to governments and intergovernmental organisations. It has direct access to national governments all over the world through its national committees, which empowers ICC to cover a broad range of activities, from arbitration to fighting corruption to combating commercial crime. ICC remains a diligent defender of the open multilateral trading system. With membership growing all over the world, its national committees are now representing more than 90 countries. Hence it is able to create a healthy economic communication within the world, and helps some of the world's poorest countries to attract foreign direct investment. ICC provides business input to the United Nations, the World Trade Organization, and many other intergovernmental bodies, both international and regional. It will maintain its efforts to break down barriers to international trade and investment so that all countries can gain economically, and living standards can rise. |
