Paul Stothard

Paul Stothard is a partner specialising in international arbitration as counsel and arbitrator. He has particular experience of in a diverse range of high-value disputes including construction, energy and infrastructure, telecoms, M&A, financial institutions, international trade, retail, hospitality, sports and media. Paul has experience of both commercial and investment disputes, and has acted for both investors and states.

Paul has been chair of the disputes and arbitration practices of two major international law firms. He has practiced in the Arabian Gulf and the Far East (China and Japan) and is able to dispute under English law and the laws of the Arabian Gulf (including UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Saudi Arabia).

Paul regularly appears as advocate and been appointed as arbitrator on numerous occasions before a diverse range of courts and tribunals internationally. He has represented clients in courts (English High Court and Dubai International Financial Centre Court) and in arbitration (International Chamber of Commerce, London Court of International Arbitration, International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes, UNCITRAL and Dubai International Arbitration Centre).



Yaroslav Klimov

Yaroslav Klimov is a dispute resolution partner, based in the Dubai office. He is highly regarded for dispute resolution with significant experience in international arbitration, cross-border disputes involving CIS parties and Russian litigation. Yaroslav is often involved in high-profile disputes.

One of the main focuses of Yaroslav's expertise is international arbitration with significant experience in construction and commercial disputes. He has represented clients' interests as counsel in more than 30 arbitration proceedings (for both claimants and defendants). In addition to his counsel work he sits as an arbitrator in international arbitration matters. He is listed as an arbitrator at various arbitral institutions: Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), Tashkent International Arbitration Centre (TIAC) and others.

Yaroslav is regularly ranked as a leading lawyer by international legal directories, including Chambers and Partners, Legal 500 and Best Lawyers. Yaroslav has also been included into the Legal 500 Arbitration Powerlist: CIS and Caucasus, Inaugural Lawdragon Global Litigation 500 list and the Roster of International Arbitrators. Yaroslav has more than 25 years' experience in international dispute resolution, involving multiple jurisdictions, such as the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Hungary, Cyprus, and many others. He is also an experienced advocate, he has been a member of the Moscow Bar Association since 1997.

Yaroslav is a graduate of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) with honours and holds a Doctorate in Law from the Institute of State and Law of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Yaroslav joined us in 2011 having previously worked for a major international law firm for 15 years. A native Russian speaker, Yaroslav is fluent in English, German and French.



Aarti Thadani
Counsel


Aarti Thadani is a senior dispute resolution lawyer based in the Middle East. She advises on international arbitration and litigation, with a particular focus on construction, real estate, hospitality and commercial disputes. She also has extensive experience is mediation and expert determination.

As a registered Part II practitioner with the DIFC Court, Aarti advises on DIFC and ADGM law (as well as English law). She has an excellent working knowledge of local laws and practice and regularly co-counsels with local lawyers on litigation matters before the Onshore Courts – both in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Aarti has broad experience of advising on cross-jurisdictional commercial disputes, and in more recent times she has been advising on complex construction disputes in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Aarti has been working in the Middle East since 2015 and prior to that has worked in both the London and Singapore offices of Norton Rose Fulbright. She is currently completing a Masters in Construction Law and Practice.
